The Fulbright Program in Austria provides grants for:

  Austrian students,
who have completed their first degree (Mag., DI, or Bakk.), to study as graduate students (Master's, PhD) in the United States or to teach at American colleges and universities as German language teaching assistants;

U.S. students, ranging from recent college and university graduates to PhD candidates, for study and research in Austria;

Austrian scholars,
in particular mid-career candidates, to pursue research in the United States; and

U.S. guest professors and scholars to teach at Austrian universities or pursue research in Austria.

The Commission Secretariat assists the Austrian Ministry of Education, the Arts and Culture in the management of its U.S. Foreign Language Teaching Assistantship Program. Since the inception of this program in 1963, some 2,000 U.S. college and university graduates have taught as foreign language teaching assistants at higher secondary schools throughout Austria.

The Fulbright Commission Secretariat also advises Austrian students on study opportunities in the United States and serves as a clearing house for binational educational information.
