The aim of this conference organized under the auspices of the commemoration of the 60th anniversary of the establishment of the Fulbright Program in Austria in 1950 is to highlight ongoing research on the various topics related to academic exchange and to stimulate further reflection on the state of cultural diplomacy, scholarly internationalism, and the their ultimate impacts on foreign relations.

Sixty: The Austrian-American Fulbright Program, 1950-
2010
As part of the commemoration of the sixtieth anniversary of the establishment of the Austria-American Fulbright program, the Austrian-American Educational Commission asked Georg Steinböck, an Austrian documentary filmmaker, to produce Fulbright at Sixty. This forty-five minute film in English and German (with English subtitles) is based on interviews with different generations of Austrian Fulbrighters from the 1950s to the present and recent U.S. grantees as well as historical footage, photos, and archival material. It provides an overview of the origins and objectives of the Fulbright program and gives Fulbright grantees an opportunity to tell the story of the Austrian-American program in their own words.
