Film Screening and Discussion with US Scholar Michaela Hoenicke Moore

In honor of Black History Month, the US Embassy Vienna and American Corner Innsbruck are hosting a screening of "Race" and a discussion of with US Fulbright Scholar Michaela Hoenicke Moore (University of Iowa) on February 22.

"Race" (USA 2016) "is based on the incredible true story of African American Jesse Owens, the legendary athletic superstar whose quest to become the greatest track and field athlete in history thrusts him onto the world stage of the 1936 Olympics, where he faces off against Adolf Hitler's vision of Aryan supremacy."

Michaela Hoenicke Moore will introduce the film and host a Q&A. She is an Associate Professor and the Director of Graduate Studies at the History Department of the University of Iowa where she focuses on International Relations and Modern European and US History. Dr. Hoenicke Moore previously taught at the Kennedy Institute of the Free University in Berlin, at York University in Toronto and at the University of North Carolina. She also was a senior fellow in US Foreign Policy at the German Council on Foreign Relations in Berlin. The author of Know Your Enemy: The American Debate on Nazism, 1933-1945, Prof. Hoenicke Moore will be a visiting Fulbright Scholar in American Studies at the University of Innsbruck from February through July.
