The Ministry of Science and Research is the federal government agency responsible for higher education in Austria. This website serves as a good starting point if you are looking for in-depth information (e.g. full texts of federal laws establishing university programs).
Development of Education in Austria 2004 - 2007
This publication by the Austrian Federal Ministry for Education, Arts and Culture consist of two parts. Part A describes the organisation and structure of the Austrian education and Part B focuses on the development of education between 2004 and 2007.
The Austrian Academic Portal contains a collection of links to all kinds of institutions in higher education, including research libraries and institutions, universities, universities of applied sciences etc.
The Austrian Exchange Service - Österreichischer Austauschdienst (OEAD) is the Austrian agency for international mobility and cooperation in education, science and research and a major clearinghouse for study-abroad information in Austria, both for incoming and outgoing students.

The Austria page of the HEAG (Higher Education Accessibility Guide) includes databases offering information on eligible benefits for disabled or chronically ill students. This information is designed to help students and teachers to make decisions about potential studies abroad.
Austrian Institutions of post-secondary education: A list of post-secondary institutions compiled by Margit Geyer (National Agency Lifelong Learning Austria, OEAD) and Heinz Kasparovsky (Federal Ministry for Science and Research, ENIC NARIC Austria).
