
U.S. citizens applications to the English Language Teaching Assistantship Program are administered by the Austrian American Educational Commission/Fulbright Commission on behalf of the Austrian Federal Ministry for Education, Arts and Culture.

Applicants must be 29 years old or younger at the time of application. Graduating seniors may apply, however they must complete their bachelors degrees before starting their teaching assistantship.
Complete applications for 2012-13 will be accepted between November 15, 2011 and January 15, 2012 (postmark). Please send all application materials to:

Only complete applications will be considered. All parts of the application must be submitted by the final application deadline.
Candidates selected for USTA positions will be informed of their acceptance in late April. Alternates will also be selected and informed of their status, and may be offered a USTA position as it becomes available
A non-refundable administrative fee of US $100 is due to the Fulbright Commission upon acceptance of the position.
Candidates should consider the personal statement an opportunity to 'talk' about themselves, their motives for applying to this program in particular, and the attributes they have that they feel will make them effective USTAs in Austria.
There is no formula for this statement. Candidates should consider what they personally think is important for reviewers of applications to know about themselves and address, for example, personal histories, family backgrounds, their intellectual development, or key experiences that have affected them.
Personal statement may be written in English or German and should not exceed 1,000 words. Please use the following format: Arial 10-point, standard 1-inch margins, 1 1/2 spaces.
The application period for 2012-13 program year has expired.
The application period for the 2013-14 program year opens on 15 November 2012.
