Program Officer: Academic Mobility Management

Fulbright Austria (Austrian-American Educational Commission) manages the prestigious Fulbright scholarship program, a nationwide teaching assistantship program that places US university graduates at Austrian secondary schools and serves as a clearing house and advising center for information on educational opportunities in Austria and the United States. Fulbright Program Officer (f/m) – Academic Mobility Management

Fulbright Austria is seeking a program officer who can play an instrumental role in the management of Fulbright opportunities for Austrian and American scholars, artists, and professionals. This position entails working closely with a wide range of individuals as well as public and private institutions in Austria and the United States.

Your responsibilities:

  • Program outreach, promotion, and advertisement in Austria and the United States
  • Management and review of applicants for grants, grantee placement at institutions in Austria or the United States, on-site support, documentation, and alumni work
  • Maintenance of good working relationships with a wide range of partner institutions in Austria and the US, including universities, Fachhochschulen, museums, research facilities, foundations, governmental agencies, and NGOs
  • Organization of orientation programs and events

Your qualification profile:

  • Committed to the ideals and objectives of the Fulbright Program
  • Good team player and communicator, experience in public speaking would be a benefit
  • Self-directed, reliable and proactively responsible
  • Multitasker with strong organizational skills, know-how in organizing events
  • Adept at negotiating cross-cultural differences
  • Interested in academic, research, and cultural administration
  • Familiarity with Austrian and American university systems and institutional cultures
  • Relevant academic and/or work experience in the English-speaking world
  • Superior working command of English and German (C1: spoken and written)
  • Graduate degree (MA, equivalent, or above)
  • Mastery of the standard Microsoft Office programs and familiarity with social media platforms
  • Experience with database management, CMS programs as well as statistical reporting and budgeting are advantageous

Remuneration: Contingent upon qualifications and previous experience and commensurate with pay scales at other similar public or not-for-profit institutions involved in the management of academic mobility or exchange programs, we offer a minimum yearly salary of gross 35,000 euros.

Starting date: Negotiable (August 1 desired)
