Mitch Sims, a native of Florida, began his career in fundraising and alumni outreach in response to Hurricane Katrina. While attending Wagner College in New York City, Mitch mobilized the student body to raise money for hurricane relief efforts, which the college matched in gifts. After receiving a BA in music, he then participated in the Austrian US Teaching Assistantship program administered by Fulbright Austria for the Austrian Federal Ministry of Education, Science and Research while furthering his studies in musicology at the University of Vienna. Additionally, Mitch was awarded a Rotarian Ambassadorial Scholarship to further his research interests in Vienna. In order to strengthen ties between alumni, current scholars, and the community, he helped create the first Rotary Alumni Club in Austria. Those experiences persuaded him to raise funds for gifted and talented musicians while he completed professional certifications from Harvard University. He has over fifteen years of experience in the sectors of international education and event and fundraising management as well as a strong commitment to promoting intercultural and intergenerational dialogue. Mitch is looking forward to supporting Fulbright Austria’s vision in his role as alumni relations manager.
