We are excited about the recently published study entitled “Stocktaking of Cooperations and Networks between Austrian and North American Researchers, RTI Stakeholders and Institutions” (German: “Bestandsaufnahme der Kooperation und Vernetzung österreichischer und nordamerikanischer Forschender, FTI-Stakeholder und –Institutionen”), which provides in-depth insights into cooperation and networking between Austrian and North American researchers and research, technology, and innovation (RTI) stakeholders and institutions. The study includes data on the US, Canada, and Mexico. Also check out the online dashboard for better graphic traceability of the existing essential individual and institutional transatlantic relationships and linkages. We are also excited to see Fulbright Austria’s impact on Austrian-American relations demonstrated so clearly in the study.

The study is available in German and consists of three modules:

1) Comprehensive inventory and network analysis, including graphical representation of existing essential individual and institutional relationships and linkages in science and research.

2) Bibliometric analysis of co-publications between Austria and North America.

The present study "Stocktaking of Cooperations and Networks between Austrian and North American Researchers, RTI Stakeholders and Institutions" was carried out jointly by ZSI and WWTF GmbH in the period between mid-December 2021 and early April 2022. The purpose of the study, which was closely aligned with the terms of reference used by the Ministry of Education, Science and Research in the call for proposals, was essentially to take stock of the cooperations and networking between Austrian and North American researchers, RTI stakeholders and institutions and to analyse the effects of the ASciNA Award with a focus on the career development of the ASciNA award winners and their assessments of the award. The study offers a comprehensive description of the instruments used for the internationalisation of science and research between Austria and North America, as well as supplementary network representations derived from this in an extra online dashboard for better graphic comprehensibility of the existing essential individual and institutional transatlantic relationships and interconnections. The study covers the current status of 110 activities. The period covered by the data at aggregate and individual level is 2013-2020, unless otherwise stated. Furthermore, the thematic focus of bilateral and multilateral cooperation with the target region (USA, Canada, Mexico) was examined on the basis of international co-publications and citations. The range of methods was used within the framework of a multi-method research design.
