This year's Fulbright Prize in American Studies has been awarded to Yvonne Kaisinger for her doctoral thesis on “An Ocean of Words: Literature and the Environment on Caribbean and Pacific Islands” (University of Salzburg) and to Amelie Schmid for her master thesis “Is Girls Feminist? Analyzing ‘The Voice of a Generation’” (University of Salzburg). The recipients were honored for their achievements at the annual conference of the Austrian Association for American Studies at Schloss Leopoldskron on November 3, 2018.
The Fulbright Prize is based on an annual competition managed by the Austrian Association for American Studies and recognizes the best thesis in American Studies. The Fulbright Prize is a means of acknowledging the enduring importance of American Studies and the role of innovative research by young Austrian scholars in contributing to the fulfillment of the Fulbright Program's mandate to promote mutual understanding between the peoples of Austria and the United States of America.
