Kian Shamskhou is a recent graduate with a biochemistry degree from Occidental College in Los Angeles, California. Kian built a foundation in research by working in the Cannon lab, a synthetic organic chemistry group at Occidental College. He wrote his honors thesis on the work conducted in the Cannon lab, which focused on developing novel photocatalytic methods for bond formation.
Kian continues to advance the field of sustainable chemistry as a Fulbright student in Austria. As a member of the Schoefberger lab at the Johannes Kepler University Linz, Kian works on the development of electrocatalytic methods for carbon dioxide reduction. Through this vein of chemistry, Kian hopes to make an impact on highly polluting industries by synthesizing value-added products from carbon dioxide.
