Phillip Duda graduated with a BA in political science and a music minor from Illinois Wesleyan University in 2019. Within political science, the populist radical right, conspiracy thinking, and the east-central European world have been consistent areas of his interest. Music always occupied his time at IWU just as much as the social sciences. As a classical tenor, recent areas of interest have included 19th-century Lieder and the music of the Baroque period. Having sung several recitals—including a junior recital in Vienna (2019)—he continues to participate in summer programs such as the Oberlin Baroque Performance Institute and voice competitions, including NATS auditions and classical-singer competitions. In 2018 internships took him to the Vienna State Opera and the Mission for Migrant Workers in Hong Kong. While social sciences in the east-central European area remain important to him, he plans on continuing his graduate studies in music.
