Allison Gilmore is a recent graduate of North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University (NC A&T). Hailing from Saint Louis, Missouri, Allison received a bachelor's degree in journalism and mass communication from NC A&T. While in college, Allison served as the president of the Student Government Association for the 2019–20 academic school year. She has previously interned with Congressman G.K. Butterfield on Capitol Hill with the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation. She has also worked with Angela Rye as a public-policy intern and worked on a Congressional Campaign. Throughout college, Allison participated in volunteer work with immigrant and refugee families and children at the Doris Henderson Newcomers School in Greensboro, North Carolina, and Reading Connections. Allison has a passion for theGerman language and culture. She will be putting this to use as USTA for the 2020–21 cycle. She originally was a Fulbright Finalist for the community-based combined grant. She is excited to still be able to teach and volunteer freely with Caritas, a nonprofit that works with immigrants and refugees in their resettlement process. After completing the USTA program, she hopes to stay in Europe for either graduate school or as a working professional. Allison hopes to have a career where she works with immigrant and refugee children in their resettlement process.
