Julia Petron is a recent graduate of the College of Saint Benedict and Saint John's University in Minnesota. With a degree in German and pre-medicine, she plans to become an OB GYN and work in women's health. While in college, she spent two summers interning at Klinikum Augsburg in Augsburg, Germany, where she learned much about the German language and grew to love the cultures of German-speaking countries. Julia spent a semester studying at Nelson Mandela University in Port Elizabeth, South Africa, where she volunteered at Missionvale Care Centre's clinic, a facility that provides medical services to the people of Missionvale Township. She also worked as a teaching assistant and tutor for her university's German Department, where she greatly enjoyed teaching others about the German language and Germanic culture. In her free time she enjoys traveling, reading, dancing, and listening to music. During the duration of her time as a USTA, she hopes to meet new people and create meaningful friendships with those around her. As her previous visits to Austria have been short, she looks forward to a longer stay and the opportunities it will bring to experience Austrian culture. She also looks forward to exploring Vienna, her favorite city in the world!
