Fulbright Austria is pleased to invite current program participants, alums, partners, and friends to the first of two webinars we are hosting as part of our “70 years of bright minds.” celebrations.

Join us as we host a panel discussion entitled “US teaching assistants going into Austrian classrooms: Bringing language and cultural education." Moderated by 2006–07 Austrian Fulbright student Michael Huber, the panel of esteemed alums of the US Teaching Assistantship program as well as representatives of the Austrian Federal Ministry of Education, Science and Research (BMBWF), the US Embassy Vienna, and Austrian schools will explore the benefits native speakers bring to the Austrian secondary-education system and their contributions to promote mutual understanding between the peoples of Austria and the US.

This exciting event is free of charge and includes a Q&A session at the end. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the webinar. The Fulbright Program in Austria dates back to 6 June 1950, when the Austrian and US governments signed a bilateral exchange agreement in Washington, DC. In 1951, the first scholarship recipients from both countries set sail on the first ever Fulbright experience. These Fulbright Austria milestones hallmark 70 years of bilateral commitment to Austrian-American educational and cultural exchanges and experiences. Since then, Fulbright Austria’s commitment has continued to contribute to binational understanding in the spirit of Senator Fulbright.

About the US Teaching Assistantship program

Since 1962, Fulbright Austria has coordinated the recruitment and placement of US college graduates in Austrian classrooms for the BMBWF’s US Teaching Assistantship program. The BMBWF’s program is a valuable linguistic model for classroom English instruction. It provides Austrian students in all nine provinces and various types of schools with a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for lively dialogue with native speakers and stimulates students’ interest in cultural exchange that crosses borders.
