Alexis Rodda, a 2018–19 US Fulbright student, award-winning soprano, opera singer, and music researcher, will share insights into the experience of her Fulbright research on Egon Lustgarten, an early-20th-century Viennese opera composer whose compositions exemplify the standards of the era. Alexis will perform samples of his work and of works from his contemporaries Karl Weigl, Hugo Kauder, and Alma Mahler. This is a rare archival treat that is not to be missed!
Fulbright Austria is pleased to invite you to an evening full of artistic expression!

Before the performance, we invite you to enjoy the exhibition “Architect Victor Gruen: Father of the Shopping Mall.” Victor Gruen was an Austrian-American immigrant whose urban planning and bold vision left an impact on the United States throughout the 20th century. Learn how his vision lives on in the 21st century in the US and in many cities across Austria and Germany in the reimagined pedestrian zones that are based on the model of his home city, Vienna.
Doors will open at 18:00, and remarks will begin at 18:30. Light refreshments will be available.
Please note that this event is open to Fulbright Austria alums and to friends of Fulbright over the age of 21. The event is free, but capacity is ticketed and limited to 100 people.
