Fulbright Austria welcomed twenty-seven US students and four US scholars to the fall 2019 US Fulbright orientation in Vienna, Austria. In the course of the week-long orientation program, grantees enjoyed expert talks on the Austrian political landscape and Fridays for Future movement with guests from the Landshut University of Applied Sciences, the Vienna University of Economics and Business (WU), the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna (BOKU), and the Gymnasium und Realgymasium 7 (GRG7) in Vienna as well as an alumni panel to address questions about life in Austria in Fulbright Austria's Q21 offices.
The orientation also included an Instawalk around Vienna's historic Ringstraße with program officer Darrah Lustig and an evening reception hosted by His Excellency Trevor D. Traina, US Ambassador to Austria, at his residence, which is a highlight of the orientation program every year. The week ended on a high note with a tour of the Melk Abbey followed by a beautiful evening in Dürnstein in the nearby Wachau region.
