Fulbright Austria alumni relations manager Mitch Sims met with alums and current Austrian program participants in New York City (NYC) on 30 October 2022 for a relaxed and informal reception. Fifteen alums gathered to share their Fulbright and USTA experiences, hear about upcoming events and activities, and learn about the call for 2023 Alum Advisory Panel members.
On 20 December 2022, Fulbright Austria facilitated an informal alum get-together in NYC, and alums of the University of Graz were invited to join. Roberta Maierhofer, chair of the Fulbright Austria Alum Chapter Styria and herself an alum of both Fulbright Austria and the University of Graz, invited everyone to meet old and new friends, re-establish Austrian-US connections, and plan further activities. 20 people gathered to enjoy a relaxing evening in Manhattan before the winter storm hit town.
Both events offered a wonderful opportunity to look back at past experiences and, more importantly, to establish present-day relationships as a basis for future meetings and events. And these gatherings will continue: Fulbright Austria Alum Chapter Styria will host two events in the US: a meet & greet in NYC on 6 April 2023 and a meet & greet in Houston, Texas, on 11 April 2023.
