Fulbright Prize in American Studies 2024: Call for applications

Apply now for the annual Fulbright Prize in American Studies.

Based on an annual competition managed by the Austrian Association for American Studies (AAAS), the Fulbright Prize in American Studies recognizes the best thesis in American studies. The prize is a means of acknowledging the enduring importance of American studies and the role that innovative research by young Austrian scholars plays in contributing to the fulfillment of Fulbright Austria's mandate to promote mutual understanding between the peoples of Austria and the United States of America.

Fulbright Austria is pleased to announce that it will grant an award for the best master's or doctoral thesis in American studies completed during the 2022–23 academic year. For information on the application and review processes, please visit the AAAS's website.

The deadline to submit is 30 April 2024.

A look back at 2023

Over the last two decades, the Fulbright Prize in American Studies has shaped the lives of more than 30 academics. In 2023, the Fulbright Prize in American studies was awarded to Marijana Mikić for her doctoral thesis, entitled Race, Space, and Emotion in Twenty-First-Century African American Literature, which was supervised by Prof. Alexa Weik von Mossner at the University of Klagenfurt. Marijana was honored for her achievement on 20 October 2023 at the AAAS’s annual conference.
