Jaffar Diab

Jaffar Diab has been a Foreign Service officer with the US Department of State (DoS) for over 20 years. He was most recently the chief of staff at the DoS’s Bureau of Consular Affairs as well as acting director for the bureau’s Office for Public and Congressional Affairs. Previously, Jaffar oversaw the orientation program at the DoS’s National Foreign Affairs Training Center, where he instructed new Foreign Service personnel about the DoS and US diplomacy. His previous diplomatic assignments included spokesperson for the US embassy in Kabul, Afghanistan; public affairs officer at the US mission to NATO; political officer at the US embassy in Baghdad, Iraq; and various positions in Washington, DC. Before joining the DoS, Jaffar was an attorney at the prosecutor’s office in Cambridge, Massachusetts. He attended McGill University in Montreal, Quebec, and Suffolk University School of Law in Boston, Massachusetts.
