In his talk he will review research projects to illustrate how he has worked with basic scientists to address applied science objectives and used basic research tools to solve industrial problems. He will also show how graduate students with sound basic science research skills who work with both basic science and applied science departments can use their creativity to solve applied problems. The importance of international education to facilitate collaborations will also be mentioned.
