Ruth Gabler was born and raised in Vienna. She studied Business Management at the IMC University of Applied Sciences Krems and soon discovered her passion for the United States. After working in consulting in New York and studying on an exchange semester in St. Louis, Missouri for international business, Ruth started a Children and Youth University “Junge Uni Krems” for underserved children and managed the concept jointly for 5 years. Fascinated by making a difference in education and public affairs, Ruth was awarded with a Fulbright Scholarship in 2009 to enhance her education in the United States and started at the School of Public and Environmental Affairs (SPEA) at Indiana University to receive her master’s degree. In October 2011, Ruth started with Kiwanis International as Campaign Director Europe based in Brussels and later Frankfurt/Main and was responsible for The Eliminate Project: eliminating maternal and neonatal tetanus around the world together with UNICEF. Ruth managed the fundraising campaign in Europe raising more than US$20 million. Being a Vienna native, she returned in late 2016, as fundraising and strategy consultant in the marketing and communication sector. In June 2017, Ruth joined the Fulbright Austria team as Development and Fundraising Officer and is excited about the opportunity to engage alumni and friends of the Fulbright Program on both sides of the Atlantic.
"The three years as a Fulbright Grantee have been the most incredible years of my lifetime, and have impacted my outlook on life forever."
