Sophie was born and raised in Vienna, where she always found herself inspired by diverse cultures and eclectic living environments. She studied landscape planning and architecture in Vienna and Valencia (Spain), where she found it essential to combine different approaches of urban studies from various universities such as the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna (BOKU), TU Wien, and the University of Vienna. The focus of her studies was on supporting the manifold coexistence of people from diverse backgrounds by means of urban open-space planning.
It was Fulbright Austria’s transnational outreach that drew Sophie to working at the commission, where she found herself well embedded in a mission-driven environment. She joined the Fulbright Austria team as an intern in March 2020. In December 2020, she transitioned to her new role as the USTA program officer and an EducationUSA educational adviser. Sophie is staunchly committed to promoting intercultural and intergenerational dialogue.
