Anna Davis is conducting research in Innsbruck, Austria, analyzing the impacts of climate change on endangered Alpine species, and assessing the efficacy of Austrian and EU biodiversity laws.

Zoe grew up in Carmel, Indiana, where she attended Carmel High School. While in high school, she studied abroad for a summer in Brest, France, where she started her love of traveling. She completed her BA in philosophy, politics, and economics from the University of Oxford in June 2024 and is currently pursuing her master of advanced international studies at the Diplomatic Academy of Vienna, where she intends to specialize in economics of security and security policy. In her free time, she enjoys music, theater, sewing, reading, and learning languages.

David Samuel Levinson is a 2024–25 US Fulbright student and recipient of the prestigious Fulbright-Mach Award. He's published two novels—Tell Me How This Ends Well and Antonia Lively Breaks the Silence—to great acclaim and has received countless fellowships from such places as Yaddo, Jentel, Ledig House, Virginia Center for the Arts, the Santa Fe Arts Institute, the Sewanee Writers' Conference, the Marguerite & Lamar Smith Fellowship for Writers, Gettysburg College, where he was the Emerging Writer Lecturer (2008–09), and Emory University, where he was the Fiction Fellow (2013–15). He was first runner-up in The Flannery O'Connor Story Prize and placed third in The Atlantic Monthly's fiction competition for his story, "Most of Us Are Here Against Our Will," chosen by Mary Gaitskill.

Since then, his stories and poetry have appeared in storySouth, The Brooklyn Review, Prairie Schooner, The Toronto Quarterly, West Branch, Post Road, and The Adirondack Review, among others. He served as the writer-in-residence at Texas A&M in College Station from 2012 to 2013. In response to the pandemic lockdowns in early 2020, he founded The Big Texas Author Talk, a free virtual lecture series that meets over Zoom and showcases Texas writers across the diverse Lone Star State.

Zoe is a recent graduate of Macalester College with a BA in English, German, and international studies (summa cum laude). Her main research interests are translation, migration, and multi- or postnationalism in contemporary world literature. Through her grant, she is working as a programming and archival assistant at the Literaturhaus am Inn, where she is developing unique and impactful literary events for all ages at little or no cost to attendees. As a combined grantee, she is also teaching English as a US teaching assistant at a local secondary school and attending comparative-literature courses at the University of Innsbruck.

April Beisaw became an archaeologist after a short career in analytical chemistry. Science—and its direct observation of nature—provided a way of understanding the world that was comforting in its measurable certainty, but it could not explain all that she observed. Anthropology—and its consideration of cultural context—provided another way of knowing. April became a zooarchaeologist, a scientist who is trained in the identification of animal remains from archaeological sites. She analyzed animal bones from archaeological sites all across the United States of America and published a book, Identifying and Interpreting Animal Bones: A Manual. It has become a common zooarchaeology textbook.

In the last decade, April has focused on contemporary archaeology, or archaeology of the present. This allowed her to address contemporary social issues in unique ways. For a decade, she studied the relatively recent ruins that resulted from the creation and maintenance of a vast urban water system. This showed how capturing and moving water created unending parasitic relationships between urban and rural areas. In 2023, April published the book Taking Our Water for the City: Archaeology of New York City’s Watershed Communities to facilitate new conversations about the past, present, and future of water systems.

With this Fulbright grant, April will undertake contemporary zooarchaeology that interrogates past, present, and future human-animal relationships.

Amy Carney is an associate professor of history at Pennsylvania State University, the Behrend College in Erie, Pennsylvania. She teaches courses on modern European and German history as well as the history of science. Her first book, Marriage and Fatherhood in the Nazi SS, was published by the University of Toronto Press in 2018. Her current research is a microhistory of two Jewish families who emigrated from Nazi Germany to the United States.

Chien-Juh Gu is professor of sociology at Western Michigan University in the US. She specializes in gender, social psychology, immigration, and health. Chien-Juh has published two books and numerous articles on a variety of topics, including immigration, gender, refugees, racial inequality, social psychology, and research methods. Her recent research examines the social adaptation of Burmese Christian refugees in Michigan. She is currently working on a new project that explores an emerging women’s health movement focused on combating the overtreatment of breast cancer in the US. Chien-Juh has received numerous awards and grants for her research. She serves on the editorial board of Gender, Place and Culture: A Journal of Feminist Geography. An established scholar in the field of gender and immigration in the United States, Chien-Juh will take a comparative approach to examine how gender intersects with immigration in shaping life trajectories, family relations, and cultural identities for immigrant entrepreneurs in Austria during her 2025 stay in Vienna. At the University of Vienna, she will teach two graduate seminars, “Immigration and Social Inequality” and “Gender and Health.”

Stephanie Raible is an associate professor of entrepreneurship within the Alfred Lerner College of Business and Economics at the University of Delaware (UD) and affiliated faculty in its Biden School of Public Policy and Administration. In Spring 2025, she will be a US Fulbright scholar and visiting professor at MCI | The Entrepreneurial School® in Austria. Her research interests include entrepreneurial identity, women’s entrepreneurship, career transitions, cross-sectoral partnerships, social entrepreneurship, and management education. She co-authored the book Social Entrepreneurship: A Practice-Based Approach to Social Innovation with J.H. Kucher, and she has published numerous journal articles and case studies on entrepreneurship education. Her contributions to the field have earned her a Paul R. Lawrence Fellowship with the Case Research Foundation. Her other accolades include the UD Excellence in Teaching Award, International Council for Small Business Excellence in Social Entrepreneurship Award, Deshpande Symposium Excellence in Curriculum Innovation Award, and the Delaware Business Times 40 under 40 Award.

Stephanie has served on boards such as the US Association for Small Business and Entrepreneurship and the Social Enterprise Alliance. Earlier in her career, she co-founded an educator network and led two European Commission-supported entrepreneurship incubator programs.

Jennifer Weiser is an associate professor of chemical engineering at the Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art in New York City. Her research focuses on drug delivery, wound healing, and developing polymeric biomaterials for medical applications. Jennifer earned degrees in chemical engineering (BS 2006, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute) and biomedical engineering (MS 2010, PhD 2012, Cornell University). Industrially, She worked as a medicinal chemist at Wyeth Pharmaceuticals and as a research associate at the startup iFyber funded through an NIH STTR grant. Additionally, she has training through an NIH Ruth L. Kirschstein NRSA postdoctoral fellowship in biomedical engineering (2014–17, Yale University). This work led to her appointment as a visiting professor in the Department of Surgery at the Yale School of Medicine (2017–18). Since joining The Cooper Union in 2017, Jennifer has had research collaborations with several medically oriented institutes. Past projects include work with the Department of Cardiology at the Columbia University Medical Center at Columbia University, where she was appointed a visiting professor of clinical medical sciences (2018–19), and the Department of Neural Science at New York University. Currently, Jennifer is collaborating with the Department of Orthopaedics at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and the Department of Chemical Engineering at Rowan University.
