My Fulbright year in St. Paul's, Minnesota at the College of St. Catherine, for sure taught me how to cope with extreme cold weather. As I was walking towards the beautiful Mississippi Blvd., fended by double legwear and a facial woolen scarf, people would gaze from their houses' porches, and ask whether I was looking for something or someone. It was there for me to learn that my European style "Spazierengehen" could be quite puzzling for neighborhoods.

There were a number of remarkable teachers at the college, whom I am very grateful to have met: amongst others, Mr. Graebner, Mr. Heininger, and the very competent Sister ... who taught a modern American literature course and asked me to report on Kurt Vonnegut's "Slaughterhouse 5." This pocket book is still part of my library and I reread it recently.

My Fulbright year helped me a lot in my professional career. It has been a decisive and positive asset of qualification, as I was able to speak English fluently and was also able to negotiate deals in that language, as I had been working in companies' financial departments. This was owed foremostly to my being a former "Fulbrighter." Thank you and Congratulations!
