Join us as we celebrate the enduring relationship between Austria, the US, and the peoples of both countries.

A day of celebration

You're invited to our Austrian-American FriendshipFest, a public celebration of the enduring relationship between Austria and the United States! The event will take place on Saturday, 26 September—a day with a special meaning in the bilateral relationship.

Austrian-American Day

Proclaimed by President Bill Clinton in 1997, Austrian-American Day is observed each year on 26 September in honor of the longstanding friendship between the two countries and the people-to-people connections that continue to underpin it. The day highlights shared values of education, curiosity, creativity, democratic engagement, and international cooperation, making it the perfect day for the first-ever Austrian-American FriendshipFest hosted by Fulbright Austria.

America's 250th birthday

This event also holds special significance as we celebrate the 250th anniversary of the United States of America. Through a full day of educational, cultural, and community programming, we will reflect on the milestone anniversary and the many ways Austrians and Americans have collaborated in sports, culture, innovation, and education throughout that 250-year history.

Program overview

Planned activities include:

  • Talks and panel discussions featuring Austrian and US experts
  • Cultural and musical performances
  • Food court with Austrian and US specialties
  • Demonstrations of US sports
  • Interactive exhibits and educational displays
  • Presentations by Fulbright Austria alums and current program participants
  • Opportunities to meet members of the Austrian-American community

This event is open to the public; no registration is required, and entry to the event is free.
