Deadline: Application US Teaching Assistantship Program, January 15, 2018

Live and teach in Austria! For decades this program has provided college graduates from the United States with once-in-a-lifetime opportunities to work as secondary school teaching assistants in communities all over Austria. In addition to serving as valuable linguistic models in classroom English instruction, US teaching assistants are also valuable resources for first-hand information about the "American way of life" and informal representatives of the United States. In this capacity, they contribute substantially to the promotion of mutual understanding between the peoples of the United States of America and the Republic of Austria.

Deadline: Application Foreign Language Teaching Assistantship Program, November 15, 2017

Foreign Language Teaching Assistants (FLTAs) have the opportunity to spend an entire academic year on a US college campus. Fulbright Austria identifies host institutions for FLTAs, who work together with experienced professors of German in formal as well as informal teaching and learning situations. FLTAs animate the instruction of German as native speakers, serve as linguistic models, and are cultural ambassadors. These assistantships also provide FLTAs with opportunities to pursue their own interests as students on campus on a part-time and tuition-free basis.

Deadline: Fulbright US Student Program, October 2017

Fulbright awards are life-defining experiences for many students. They benefit from Austrian expertise and become experts on Austria. The Fulbright US Student Program annually provides a diverse cohort of up to 23 students – recent graduates as well as graduate students and PhD candidates – from institutions all over the US with fully funded opportunities to study or to conduct research in Austria. US Fulbright students seek affiliation with Austrian institutions that specialize in their specific fields of interest and come from all disciplines. More than half of the US Fulbright students also are engaged part-time as secondary school teaching assistants or as volunteers with local community and cultural organizations: opportunities that are unique to the Fulbright Austria program.
