For over 75 years, Fulbright Austria has built bridges between the US and Austria through academic and cultural exchange. The Austrian Fulbright Foreign Language Teaching Assistant (FLTA) Program places highly motivated, Fulbright-caliber educators in US classrooms, enriching students’ understanding of language, culture, and global perspectives and fostering real human connections.

Due to recent changes in the minimum living expenses attached to visa requirements, Fulbright Austria now faces new financial challenges that impact its ability to fund grants for aspiring Austrian Fulbright FLTAs. Without additional funding for FLTAs, fewer students will benefit from this vital cultural-exchange experience—both in the US and in Austria when FLTAs return.

We are seeking major contributions from trusts, foundations, corporations, and individuals who recognize the long-term value of international education.

Why your support matters

By donating to the FLTA Empowerment Fund, you directly support ambitious educators who bring authentic Austrian cultural experiences to students in the US, helping them develop essential language skills and cross-cultural awareness. How you can make an impact

  • €2,000   – Send an Austrian Fulbright FLTA to the US
  • €10,000 – Fund one-third of their living expenses
  • €65,000 – Ensures the entire annual funding gap is closed
