The Diplomatic Academy of Vienna (DA) collaborates with Fulbright Austria to offer one grant for a qualified student to enroll in one of the courses that the DA offers for university graduates:
Please note that this grant is limited to one academic year for students accepted into the first year of the MAIS, ETIA, and DIA Programs. Especially qualified students may enroll directly in the second year of the MAIS program. (Note: US citizens already enrolled as students at the DA are not eligible for second-year funding from Fulbright Austria.)
Fulbright Austria assumes that enrollment in the DA’s programs is the core intention of those applying for this award. In their project proposals, applicants are encouraged to describe how their intended course of study fits into their career plans and objectives.

Eligibility
Dual citizens of the US and Austria are eligible and will be considered under special circumstances and in cases where project proposals are of exceptional merit. Residency in Austria (living in Austria for six or more months) is NOT permitted in the year prior to the grant.
Foreign-language proficiency
Recommended German proficiency: Intermediate
Candidates for the Diploma Programme are expected to have good knowledge of English and of either German or French with at least basic skills in the respective third language.
Instruction in the MAIS, ETIA, and DIA Programs is in English; an intermediate level of German proficiency is recommended.
Dependents
Dependent support is not available.
Affiliation
It is possible but not necessary for candidates to apply independently for admission to the DA. However, it is advisable to contact the DA’s admission office to ascertain which program is most appropriate for the candidate.
Affiliation fees/tuition
Costs for tuition will be covered by Fulbright Austria and the DA. Grantees receive an award to cover the costs of on-site room and board, and grantees can choose on-campus housing or find off-campus accommodations.
When I think back to my younger self on that first night in Vienna, waiting alone in that big academy building for the future to happen, I smile thinking about all the learning and growth and adventure that was to come. For that, I am truly grateful for the Fulbright Program.
