Fulbright Austria is pleased to announce the appointment of its new executive director, Dr. Hermann Agis, who will assume his position on August 1. Current executive director Dr. Lonnie R. Johnson will retire on September 30, after over 20 years of exceptional service.

Fulbright Austria Grantee Attends 2019 EU-US Young Leaders Seminar

First held in 2017, the EU-US Young Leaders Seminar is an annual seminar hosted by Fulbright Belgium / Luxembourg / Schuman in Brussels, Belgium that brings together young leaders from both sides of the Atlantic to discuss topics relevant to their generation and beyond. This year, we sent US Fulbright combined grantee Elaine Chen to participate in this noteworthy event and are excited about her takeaways, which she shares below in her own words.

2019 Pre-Departure Orientation & Going-Away Heuriger

The 2019–20 Austrian Fulbright grantees came together at the Fulbright Austria offices on June 21, 2019, for a pre-departure orientation. After the Austrian grantees had their fill of information from Fulbright Austria staff and alumni of the various programs, the entire group headed to Müllers Heuriger & Weingut to join the homeward-bound 2018–19 US grantees for their going-away Heuriger evening.

EuroPride 2019

On June 15, 2019, Fulbright Austria joined in the EuroPride festivities in Vienna by marching in the Viennese Rainbow Parade. The event was a great success, and Fulbright Austria is pleased it was able to facilitate this opportunity for those who joined in, many of whom had never been able to participate in a Pride event.

The second annual Fulbright Austria SummerFest was a big success, with more than 130 guests in attendance. It was a fantastic opportunity to celebrate our fundraising efforts, rekindle connections, and mingle with the Fulbright Austria community. We would like to thank everyone for their incredible support and for advocating on behalf of Fulbright Austria.
